Jacks Birthday then Goan agriculture

First of all Happy birthday Jack, hope you get all the presents you asked for xx
Today our hosts Jerry & Sandra took us to see their land where they grow beans, watermelons  and okra in the winter and rice in the monsoon hit summer. They dug the well themselves and have cashew nut trees that line the road.
Apparently the nuts are late this year and the monsoon bought slightly less rain than usual.
The coconut harvest is in full swing and they dry them out in the sun.
The Goans eat a lot of pork and also use buffalo meat for steaks, which is surprisingly tender. They also make marvellous mozzarella and creamy milk.

There are lots of roadside fruit stalls and it's incredibly cheap
There's always some different stuff on offer, the spinach is just wonderful. We get our bananas here and 18 cost 25p
Onions are 10p kilo
Tomato 10p a kilo
Cabbage 25p
Cauliflower 20p for a football sized one
Grapes red and black seedless 30p kilo
Spuds 10p kilo
Spinach 5p a bunch
Spring onions the size of leeks 10p a bunch
Carrots 10p kilo
Lemons and limes 3p each great for a gin and tonic!
Gin this year has gone up 20p and is now &1.90 a bottle, with a Schweppes tonic some ice and lime it's a lovely way to watch he sun go down
Cheers
